Can't set-up SBCGlobal.net email account

Hi, I'm very new to a Mac & not very computer literate. I've gotten as far as the incoming mail server page. I get an error message POP server "mail.sbcgloba.net" is not responding..... I really have no idea what I'm doing. Can someone help me out?

G5, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Hi,

Ok. If the error message you posted before is correct, then it looks like you have mis-typed the SMTP server used for your account.

There should be a lowercase 'L' in there. i.e: mail.sbcglobal.net

In Mail, go into it's preferences via Mail menu item > Preferences, select Accounts and check to see what SMTP setting you have it there. If it's missing the 'l' at the end of 'global' add it in, close the preferences (saving any changes if Mail asks you) and then retry sending an email.
