A "plus symbol" is showing in my Pages graphic, what is it?

I created a little graphic in Pages. I wanted to do a screen capture, but there is this little plus symbol or sign on one of the images. What or why is this present?

Peter,

The graphic elements that you used are capable of holding Text. When there isn't room for all the text, a plus sign is displayed, indicating that you need to enlarge the object to display all the text. It was probably some accidental clicking and typing that gave this result. Click on the object to select it, then double-click in the object to select the text, then hit Delete. This should eliminate the plus sign.
