Not able to access any applications other than iTunes!

Hi all,

I encounter this issue quiet often, I press the center (Home) button twice or thrice sometimes and iPhone brings up the iTunes application and I'm stuck here for ages until the battery drains out completely. I have done everything I could but just not able to exit away from iTunes no matter what I do.

I get calls, I attend and after the call is dropped the iTunes is back.. same with text messages. Off late I have been very annoyed... I thought the problem existed only with my iPhone. my mate got a new iPhone 16GB (White) yesterday, I was helping him activate it while we encountered the very same issue.

Has anyone come across the same issue.. any tips to fix it? This bug annoys **** out of me.. looking forward for some help from this community. First post, please go easy.

Haven't run across this. A press of the home button should return you to the home screen no matter what.

However, a reset will certainly end the hangup - press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the slide to power off prompt).

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply.. I have tried your tip but only to see nothing has changed. When I press and hold home button + sleep/wakeup button it starts to take screenshot (if you know what I mean.. the shortcut key to take shots of your screen). I have tried pressing the sleep/wakeup button for a long time only to find nothing happens.. when I leave the button the screen goes blank.. and I see the white screen again when I press the same button.

Looking forward for replies from other people who might or might not experienced similar issue. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

If you hold down your sleep and home buttons the iPhone should after about 6 - 10 seconds go to the screen with the red power off slide, ignore that and keep holding the buttons and next you should see the Apple logo. You can let go now and the iPhone will reset.

If this does not happen you can try Restoring your iPhone in iTunes. If the problem persists you will need to get it serviced.

As deggie stated, you must press _and hold_ BOTH the sleep/wake button and the home button (a quick simultaneous press of both takes a screenshot - you must press and hold them for a reset).

Else, try a Restore via iTunes.
