Sharing iMovie to videocamera

Using iMovieHD and a Sony Digital Handycam and having trouble sharing imovie to the videocamera. iMovie and videocamera will share for about 10 seconds of footage then I get error message saying firewire was disconnected, but it's not. Happens for any clip. Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

A couple thoughts:

Do you have a different FireWIre cable you could try?

Is the camera running on battery? If so, try plugging it in to AC.

Are your running any other FireWIre devices? If so try disconnecting them.

Disconnecting the firewire to an iSight camera and plugging in videocamera firewire directly into computer (rather than through LaCie harddrive) did the trick! Thanks!
