where do downloaded files go

where do downloaded files go

i downloaded quicktime and vlc (to open wmv files) on iphone 3g - the files downloaded (through idownload - since safari will not download them)...........so where did they go - how do i get the email attachement (the wmv) so i can open it
REALLY new to iphone and apple!! (pc advanced user)

You can't download files to the iPhone.

Tamara, the software he's mentioned does allow files to be downloaded onto the iPhone.

Seems kind of pointless for a legit iPhone since their site says :

One thing that this app is missing , is the ability to play or let you view the files that you download.

i already have 1download - that is how i downloaded vlc and quicktime - now that i downloaded them - where did they go?? how do i access them? the windows media file i want to view/play is an attachment in an email message

I suppose that there could be times where a user is surfing with an iPhone and spots something that they want and are afraid that they won't remember the site. In such a case, iDownload might be somewhat useful. If it were me I'd probably just email myself a note with the URL, but in the case of a long URL and lacking copy-and-paste (at least I don't think you can copy a URL and paste it into an email on an iPhone), downloading to the iPhone might be better even though you can't view/use the file on the iPhone.
