Microphone?

I an 8gig 2g iPod touch and I thought they came with microphonesbut when I try to use shazam or an app that uses a mic it says it doesn't detect a microphone, but my friends 16gig 2g does. Can someone tell me what's up?

Hi nawhle: The iPod Touch does not come with a microphone. Apple does sell optional headphones with a built in microphone.

NONE of the 2nd Generation touches come with a microphone.

There ARE headsets you can buy from Apple that include a mic.

Your friends "16G iPod Touch" is what apple call and iPhone. Easy mistake my friend 😉

Not to seem rude but I know the difference between and iPhone and iPod touch, it is just as thin as mine and it doesn't have a phone app or camera, I was just comparing them

Sorry but that was me being rude.

There are rumours that a 3rd Gen with camera and microphone will be coming out. I myself am puzzled by your friends iPod, maybe Apple sent him the 3rd Gen...
