copy existing ical file to ipod touch (not syncing)?

I have an ipod touch that I'd like to copy an ical file onto. I don't care about syncing it. I won't be making changes to it on the iPod. The file comes from our school band program's web site. I don't use Outlook. Isn't there a way to just get iTunes to stuff it into the right place?
