I recently upgraded my IPhone 3G to 2.2 and about a week later I was getting a "error sending message" when sending text messages. I can receive text just fine. I have tried restoring using ITunes and even had the ATT store tech swap the SIM card with no results. HELP!!!!!!! I am very upset with ATT and Appple. I know other folks out there are having the same problems and someone out there has a fix.

    Try deleting the acct and readding it. If not talk to earthlink.

    I'd go to an Apple store and tell them everything that's going on, because AT&T only sells the phones, they can't actually fix any problems.

    I am having the same issue. I have spent lots and lots of time on the phone with AT&T, they can't seem to fix it. I don't have an Apple Store anywhere close that I could just walk in and get some help.

    Anyone else have an idea?

    same problme here.i went to apple and they ignored me.waited an hour to get to talkd to them but they sent me home telling me i cant get a replcment. what to do here?

    Hi there, yea my problem started last night, i'm able to recieve txt and everything is working fine, but when i send a txt i get a error saying, "error sending message" i got firmware 2.2

    Throwing in my $.02. I called AT&T and they did some stuff to try to resolve it (reboot phone, turn off the phone while they mess with the SIM, etc). Nothing they did worked. They transferred me to Apple, who had me run some diagnostics on the phone, and send the logs to them. Apparently this is beginning to be a more common issue, as both the Apple and AT&T rep had stated that they have started to get several calls on this issue.

    Where it stands now: Apple Engineers will look at the logs and try to determine the issue. They say they will get back to me in a few days.

    The iphone support told me the same thing. It be 1-3 days, when i hear from them again.

    Same problem going on two weeks now. None of the suggested fixes. This is my second 3G. The first one locked up. I get text messages fine. If Apple can not seem to get this fixed then does anyone know how to send a email that can arrive as a text message?

    Well I'll check with apple here in few days and post a update on what they say. I'm still having issues with sending txt. I havent heard from them yet.

    I kept receiving an "Error Invalid Number" message while trying to text one specific phone number. I went to the AT&T store and was told to take the phone to the Apple store for a replacement. I was about to leave the parking lot and remembered something else that I was having trouble with and went back in and had a different employee help me. I told the employee about the text problem and she told me that I probably had the phone number duplicated. I told her that I didn't. She deleted the specific number number and related contact, re-entered it and it has worked ever since. I am still not sure if there was a duplicate number that she removed, but the contact information had been transferred from my previous cell phone and that could have created a conflict with information that I added later.

    I wish my issue was that simple. Mine started out of the blue. It was working at 7:30a, then quit working by 10:00a the same day. No sync, no new apps, etc. I have tried MULTIPLE numbers. Each fails with the same message.

    Oh, and FTR, this does appear to be an iPhone specific problem. I have another AT&T phone (cheap old Nokia), and popped my SIM into it. I was able to text without issue from it.

    Hey there, listen if they can't fix this problem this week, i'm going back to att and find different phone. This is ridiculous. I had a friend that got 7 different iphones, because each 1 of them had issues.
