Appleworks on newer computer?

My iMac has recently bit the dust. I have to use my daughter's Powerbook G4 running OS 10.4.11 until I get a new Mac. I only have my files in Appleworks and she doesn't have any programs to open them! Can I install Appleworks 6 onto her laptop without causing any problems and will it work? I don't want to crash her computer!

HELP!
Thanks, Nancy 1/7/09

Great ... but ... I just looked for it in all my install CDs and only found it on one in a folder called OS 9! I had both operating systems on my iMac but on my daughter's lapton there is no OS 9 or Classic. If I install Appleworks 6 on her laptop, will she need OS 9 as well? Will we then have to switch operating systems as I did on my iMac. I don't want to do that with her laptop. Let me know! Thanks again.

Since the PowerBook is running Tiger, it can run Classic which can install AppleWorks from your installer CD. Then apply the update Niel linked to. Finally, burn the whole AppleWorks 6 folder (including the AppleWorks 6.app & the support folders) to a CD. This will give you a backup as well as a means to copy AppleWorks to your new Mac.

To keep within the Apple software license, remove the copy from the PowerBook once you have installed it on your new Mac.
