Can I use MIDI program changes to switch Logic instruments?

I pulled this MIDI file into Logic and figured out how to set QuickTime ("DLSMusicDevice") as the "instrument" so that MIDI program changes switch QT instruments in mid-track. But is it possible to map program change numbers to Logic's own instruments so that I can use them instead of QT's?

Mac OS X (10.4.9)

MARK,

Sure can,

Create your instrument/Channel Strip and at the top of the strip click down on your mouse and a contextual menu should pop up. Save this as a performance and you will be presented with a dialog box to name it and also your choice for its' Program number.
