Removing back cover issue to replace hard drive on 20 inch G5 iMac

I'm going to replace the hard drive on my 20 inch iMac G5. I downloaded the manual. Followed the first sets, removed the three screws and then attempted to remove the back cover as directed. Nothing even so remotely budges. Can anyone help determine what I need to do?

MacBook Pro 2.2 gig, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

As I asked in your other post - is it an iSight? If so, the back doesn't come off, the front does. Post back if you need instructions as to how to open it.

Yes, it is the iSight. What happens after I get the front off? What do I do to get to the hard drive?

Go to [xlr8yormac.com] and look for instructions there. It's not easy, and if you don't have experience fiddling with the insides of your Mac, I would suggest letting a tech have it. I'm not sure what instructions you are looking at, but Apple don't post any for the iSight, except for replacing the RAM, it's not user serviceable.

In one of the two YouTube pieces, Elliot took out two sticks of RAM. I thought only one was changeable with the other permanently soldered in. If the two sticks can be taken out, what is the maximum amount of RAM the iSight will see?

If he took out two sticks, they were 1GB sticks each, the total amount of RAM the iSight can take is 2.5, the 512 soldered to the board, and two additional 1GB sticks (or one 2GB stick).

I didn't realize that there are two slots that could be changed. I thought only one with the other one soldered in place.
