Anyone else experiencing wear on their space bar?

The left side of my space bar looks like a greased up chicken. It is ridiculous how greasy it is. I know hands are greasy and everything and that the space bar is the most frequently used but c'mon. I have cleaned this thing and cleaned it and now i am thinking it is not grease but rather some sort of coating that is wearing off of the keyboard. It is killing me.
I sent it in to be replaced and they put a new keyboard on it and no the new one is doing the same thing.

Anyone else?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

As I understand it, the keycaps are actually painted, and very likely the paint is wearing off. I have the same problem with some of my keycaps on my earlier MBP. I also had an even worse problem on my old iBook with the lettering chipping off. At that time, there just seemed to be a large batch of iBook keyboards with lettering that chipped off particularly easily. I waited a couple of years before replacing the iBook keyboard under warranty, and the new key board has been much better. Others who got a replacement right away got another bad keyboard.

Fortunately, Apple is willing to replace keyboards that have this problem. I'm not sure if they can just replace the spacebar, but you could ask.

Good luck!

The Mac is not made as well as most of you seem to think it is. Either they sent me one from China that was an experiment or you guys are blinded. This is NOT built that well. After hearing how well they were made and I finally made the decision to get one, I saw the box it came in and how it was all great and I thought; 'wow, this is build great and awesome construction. I got all the cardboard and Styrofoam, tape, bags, covers, ties, etc. off the machine and I thought I had taken away some of what should have stayed.

I then saw the gap and was told it was in within a normal width. But it has gradually gotten wider or somthing. I am very cautious as to not put too much pressure of the hand areas but it still is bowed and the gap is the same or maybe a bit wider.

when the LCD cracked, it was like I was waiting for the day when I was in a hurry and will forget about the gap and that is exactly what happened. if it closed tight or semi-tight that would have never happened. it was normal "use" but they consider not normal wear and tear.

KoolerKT: Your post seems to have been intended for some other thread. None of the issues you mention has been discussed in this thread, and while you seem to assume we know exactly what you're talking about, we don't have any idea. I suggest that you post a new topic of your own and begin at the beginning, describing *clearly and concisely* what your problems are. It will be a lot easier for others to advise you and answer your questions once your difficulties have been adequately spelled out.
