Safari losing Facebook login

Well, I know there seem to be several topics discussing Safari loosing cookies but my issue seems to be different. I lose my Facebook login within second of logging in. Somewhere between 15-60 seconds I am logged back out of Facebook.

I can confirm that this is unique to Safari as I'm happily on Firefox right now with no problems... but the scrolling is much nicer in Safari and Firefox seems to not like three-finger-back-and-forward surfing.

Any thoughts on why this would be happening? My logins for other sites are unaffected and I reinstalled Safari from the Apple installation... So I don't know what else to do to "reset" Safari.

I'm getting exactly the same problem - it's only just started happening. I'm guessing maybe Facebook have changed something their end as I've not changed anything with my system.

I've tried clearing cookies, emptying the trash and repairing permissions but nothing has worked yet.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

This is a problem with the version of Safari that came with 10.5.6, there is some issue with cookies where it seems to 'forget' them from time to time. This does not just affect Facebook but other sites that use cookies to maintain logins etc.

I'm having the exact same problem, but with safari and Firefox. I log into facebook and I can click around a few pages, but soon after I have to re-login. I'm really frustrated, because I've tried a number of things like switching to firefox, redownloading flash, and fooling around with my security settings and nothing worked. It is such a stupid problem. However, I can fix your three finger swipe on firefox... Download a program called Multiclutch and set up the key strokes for firefox. It's really easy and works well. If you find an answer for facebook, PLEASE tell me.

Exact same problem here. OS X 10.5.6, Safari 3.2.1
Really annoying. I also assumed that it was changes at facebooks end, as I havent done any changes here either.

I had exactly the same problem last year and eventually found that it was because I had "Private Browsing" turned on in Safari, turning OFF private browsing let me log back in as normal.

This might not be the solution for all of you but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case it turns out to the be solution you need.

That certainly would cause the problems described but, sadly, is not the issue people are reporting.

I don't have Private Browsing enabled.

I know this is almost completely unhelpful but I just started encountering this problem again. It seemed to have gone away and is now back.

I enjoy Safari's speed (supposedly due to private APIs which isn't cool) but this is getting old really freaking fast.

Are others using Growl by any chance?

Regarding the theory of a connection with Growl:

Maybe people who are experiencing the problem and are NOT using Growl can respond, as it only takes ONE to disprove the relationship.

First, you've already guaranteed that the answers will number at least 2. 🙂

Second, it's possible that there is more than one configuration that is faulty, so that even if some people aren't running growl, growl could still be a problem.

I've been having this problem for a couple weeks...it's so frustrating! Is anyone else using Adium with Facebook support? I don't think that's the issue though. My Adium FB list stays pretty stable.

I am having the exact same problem (logouts every second or so in Facebook and Yahoo Mail).
I am using Adium 1.3.3b2 and the Facebook contact list is always online while I keep getting signed out in SAFARI.

*It is SOOO annoying.* Any suggestions?
