Changing Aqua's look

Can you change the Aqua interface to have a different look?

I was using OpenOffice.org recently (which requires X11). When it is running and you go to open a file for instance, the buttons are more square and a different color and the folders have a different shape. I actually prefer that look. Is there any way to make OS X look like that all the time? Something that looks like X Windows maybe? Or something that looks like Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating system? I know OS X is BSD/Unix based so it seems like you could modify it to have a Unix look and feel.

eMac 1.25GHz, 1GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi,

There's no 'official' way to do that I'm afraid. There are a few 3rd party tools that can amend various aspects of the OS, but bear in mind these are pretty much hacks that can have unknown effects upon later system updates.

www.versiontracker.com and www.macupdate.com are good places to look for these kind of tools.
