Hey wannaget iphone,

Does the iPhone ask you for a voicemail password? After restoring the iPhone, when you tap voicemail the iPhone should prompt you for a password as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1486

Can you call standard voicemail by going to Phone> Keypad> then holding the #1 key?
If not, you may have to contact AT&T at 1-800-331-0500

No 🙂, It sounds like the only way to fix it will be calling AT&T and having them make some changes to your account. Just let them know the phone cannot call standard voicemail when you hold the #1 key.

I had to restore my iPhone last night and discovered the same problem today with my voicemail. In a ditch effort to fix the problem without calling att (afterall, the call center closes after 6pm eastern on Saturday and does not reopen until Monday morning) I tried by calling my voicemail. Here are the step to do that:

1. Dial your 10digit phone number from your iPhone. Then press call.

2. You should hear your voicemail pick up at which time you need to push the * key

3. After you push the *
You may then be prompted to enter your voicemail password, if so, go ahead and enter it. If not, then you should be able to hear all of your voicemail messages that are on the AT&T system, not what on your phone.

4. Go ahead and hang up.

5. Go ahead and try to look at your voicemail.

6. It should be able to connect and ask for the passcode.

It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you.
These are the same step you would use to access your voicemail from another phone other than your cell phone.

***Remember that they always say you should press and hold the "1" unitl it dials your voicemail, but that does not work on the iPhone as it does not support one-touch dialing and it already has visual voicemail.
