Currently Being ModeratedJan 10, 2009 3:51 PM (in response to LazyMF)Just a shot in the dark here, have you for any reason attempted to convert file formats like from m4a to MP3? On each of the duplicates, do Get Info and carefully follow the file location under "where". See if the file extension is the same or not.Black MacBook (2008) 2.4 GHz 2GB, Mac OS X (10.5.6), iPod 60GB 5thGen/iPod Touch 32GB 2.2/Windows XP/"See that which cannot be seen."
Currently Being ModeratedJan 10, 2009 7:04 PM (in response to LazyMF)I found that this is caused by itunes importing the music library twice. Usually the dual libraries were added on different dates.
1. Add the "dated added" view bar on itunes.
2. click on "dated added" to sort
3. delete one of the libraries by date.
I hope that made some sense.Compaq Presario V6000, Windows Vista
Currently Being ModeratedJan 11, 2009 9:40 AM (in response to LazyMF)Thanks Stillgrass and Karmaking, but I'm still not there.
I have not converted the format to mp4 or anything else.
However, I did re-import the library when I transferred it from an internal hard drive to an external hard drive. If I follow karmaking's suggestion and delete an item from one library, it deletes it from both libraries since they both are connected to the only copy of the song I have in the folder.Gateway, Windows Vista
Currently Being ModeratedJan 12, 2009 4:09 PM (in response to LazyMF)HI, when you delete an item from the iTunes main window, you should first be asked "do you want to delete this from the library" and then, you should be asked a second question "do you want to delete from the hard drive" (or similar such words).
Are you not asked these questions? You should be able to delete any item as listed from your library and have it still remain in its physical hard drive location.
I am just trying to gather some more information at this point.Black MacBook (2008) 2.4 GHz 2GB, Mac OS X (10.5.6), "See that which cannot be seen"/iPod 60GB 5thGen/iPod Touch 32GB 2.2/Windows XP
