touch screen stopped working

i was downloading an twitterific off the app store and mt ipod touch screen stopped working so i put it into sleep mode and brought it out and it still wouldnt work, then i held down the sleep button to try to turn if off but the touch screen still wouldnt work so now it is stuck at the screen that says slide to power off, i am going to try to attach it to itunes
