Question

Students able to unlock locked screen

When teaching, I sometimes lock the student's screens so there is more of a chance that they will pay attention 😉 Some of the students have figured out a way to unlock the screen. Does anyone know how they are doing this and how I can stop it?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

I believe you are right. They are using the power button to re-boot. If I set the energy saver settings to "allow power button to sleep computer" will it keep them from using the power button to re-boot?

They are most likely re-booting the systems. As far as I know, that's the only way to get out of a locked screen.

Hello,

I am a student and my teacher does this all we does is unplug the ethernet cable and when the teacher turns it off we pop it back in,

you cant stop your students unless you see them !

Nope. They'll just have to hold down the power button long enough for the computer to shut down....which means it's doing an improper shutdown, and that's not good for the OS or the hard drive.
