upgrading

hi. i really want to update my ipod touch (1st. gen.) to the 2.2 software. i've heard that a LOT of people have had trouble with it like...ipod not turning on, computer won't recognize ipod, ect... i really want to update my ipod, but i don't want it to break or anything, so has anyone SUCCESFULLY upgraded their ipod? if so how did you do it? please answer if you can, thanks.

What version is your firmware at this time (Settings > General > Version)

I had no trouble at all, sold it to someone else and they are having no trouble with it.

i've had no major problems since upgrading, which i did in the normal way of plugging in my ipod, clicking 'yes' when it asked if i wanted to download the latest software, and letting it carry on and do it.

i believe the version is 1.1.2 one of the very first versions for the ipod touch

well yeah, 1.0 would be the first version of the software, with 1.1.2 for example being a minor update to that.
the second major piece of software was 2.0 whic allowed apps to be downloaded.

hi...

i did the upgrade and let me tell you, i was afraid of doing it...

i read somewhere that maybe you wont have any problems if you disable the passcode and the autolock...

i did it and had no problem...nothing got erased and it's working fine...
