Its a nightmare....

I recently changed my PC (including from XP to Vista) and so burned my ipod library om the old computer onto a DVD - using the ipod save songs instructions.
Have instaled this onto the new PC and all seems fine - itunes imported the songs and they all play from the library on the PC.
BUT.... I also bought a new ipod and when I try to synch it it gets part way through the process and says "unknown error etc" and the syncing stops leaving only a few songs on it. Have reformatted the ipod and tried again - no success.
I have installed the DVD and copied the songs to the PC in a different file and tried to synch them - no success.
I am at an end - and the same problem occurs when I tried with my old ipod - it simply wont synch all the songs..... any advice greatly received as have a new ipod with no songs on it!

PC, Windows Vista
