Best Sample Rate

OK what is best sample rate to work in to create music project?

Initially mostly using soft instrumentst that come with logic but I may record from the access or triton....

At end going to put on CD at 44.1kHz so is there any advantage in doing in higher rate?

Of course I will use higher bit rate of 24

G4 (Gigabit Ethernet), Mac OS X (10.5), its shiney

yes Higer rate os 88.2.96 or better 192 should be also good...

But there are Human objective Limiting (Scientific).... the max range of Humans ears, is nominally from 20 to 18.000 or 20.000 Hertz (lower frequenzy can be fisically perceived as Heart Quake! 🙂 )

the frequienziec over 8000-10.000 are perceived only as sinusoidal waves (harmonics important only if combined with a sound to determine the stamp Sound)

So I continue to suggest Logic + Leopard + 48Khz!
(avoid to use other bulls *t like digidesign core audio or TDM)

the answer must objective...
is an objective answer and there's absolutely nothing of subjective in Samples rate numbers!
this leads to false answers and urban legends

this is a objective answer that are focused to the question of the Topic....

You haven't read/understood the very last sentence on the http://src.infinitewave.ca/ help page:
*It is not always possible to judge subjective quality from the presented measurement results.*

yes you are free to use a Mrshall Amp and record at 22.000 on Mono than use a Compact cassete recorder... put the tape in your pocket and go in the NY METRO after the 02:00 AM until 07:00!

Go back to your studio in Germany... you will see tha ammazzing result...
(you need to play your compact casset with the weath insede your cassette recorder)

there are objective result that allow me to say that Logic is the most Digital Audio Workstation...
Cubase
Protools and the other was born OBSOLETE and they are just now obsolete!!!

THAT IS WHY LOGIC DOES NOT REQUIRE UPGRADE!!!
for now!

have a good time Erik... and read the Logic manual... you are memorized every word writed in the manual... but you need to learn how Logic works!
you need to read the Logic manual again and again... with no result!

the subjective thinking are always respectable...

but the sample rate conversion add artifacts if you use ALL DAWs except Logic...

I use Avalon Preamplifire and Nueman... I don't want articacts in my Music...

*the Sample rate conversion is not a Logic Leopard problem!*

I don't like Digital Artfacts... I'm happy to work at 48Khz with Logic!
(this is my personal subjective taste)

you are free to make crappy music sounds if you like that!

you are talking about sample rate conversion?

or Political conversion?

religion conversion

the best sample rate is 48Khz

I'm just talking about objective test!

I use UAD Precision Equalizer that works by oversampling at 192 Khz!

I can convert any sample rate to another with perfect result... (obvious related to 2009 January technology)

The quality of Leopard and Logic 8 are reported here:
http://src.infinitewave.ca/

you can compare the quality with Cubase, PT LE and TDM and Ableton7 is not so good and many other DAWs!

thats also been a thing on my mind as well when it comes to sampler instruments . when im operating at 96k and then load an EXS Sampler that uses samples are created at 44100 there is a codec being used to do a realtime sample rate conversion. i am loading EXS instruments from Logics Orchestral Library Instruments and so far the results have shown little or no artifacts,. i do also the same with Kontakt 3 and still no artifacts that i can hear... there is obviously a good codec being used internally... with logics plug ins they seem to be created with that in mind. with third party plug-ins i see specs that also take that into consideration.

Oversampling is always the best way on Digital EQs

the converter also use that... and also use Noise reduction similar as Analog DBX
the Motu DDS Clock works at 192 for 48-96... and 176 for 44.1-88.2 (this reduce the Jitter)

obvious there are better converter that require $$$$$

the quality is always related to the value!!!

but we are in 2009 and the new ADDA converters are better because technology is better.... 10 Yers are a lot of time... just think
in 1999 I work with a G4 400!!!

this test was update in November 2008
