Having different objects appear at same time in Keynote '09

I have used this feature in powerpoint but it appears to not be in keynote. I want different objects, such as two text boxes to appear at the exact same time. Anyone know how to do this?? When I go to the build inspector, there is no way to make two different objects appear at the same time. I have tried to shift-click as the manual says but to no avail. Any help on that or any other resource that contains more detailed info on working with slideshow animations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
