iTunes/Audi SD Card 2GB

Hi folks,

I have a few SD Cards for an Audi/Bose sound system. to play the songs on the system the MP3 files has to go directly onto the card (not in folders ect.).

Now, I have set my Library to "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized" this means that if I drag the files from iTunes onto the card I get a no. then the song name - in many cases I don't get any other information about the song like "Album/Artist/Genre...".

Does anyone know a way to transfer all the information you get in your Library and without that no. which iTunes automatically gives the file when you set it to "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized"..?

Any help would be much appreciated..! 😀

With mp3 files the information is actually stored in the file itself in tags, not in the file name (though it may be there too). I have loads of files that are just numbers but in the player they have titles, artists, artwork, etc. Ratings and a few other things are not stored in the files but all else is.

Quit iTunes.
Open the Terminal application.
Paste this -> defaults write com.apple.iTunes create-filenames-with-tracknumber -bool FALSE
and press Return.
This keeps iTunes froma adding the track number in front of the song names.
Quit Terminal.

Restart iTunes.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Avanced.
Uncheck *Keep iTunes Music folder organized* then click OK.
Recheck *Keep iTunes Music folder organized* then click OK.
iTunes will now remove the track number in front of the song names.

I have now discovered that the reason the music system in my Audi is not showing the Artists and Albums etc. of all my music files on my SD Card is that the id3-tag has to Version 1 or 2.

Maybe you could help me with this Limnos - seems you know something bout the tags 😉

Does anyone know how I change my whole iTunes Library to have one of those two kinds of tags?

And what is a m3u/M3U file-format? Need that to make playlists...

Any help would be appreciated very much.

I found the solution, if anyone need it:

 Option-click (or right-click) the song and choose Convert ID3 Tags.

 Click Translate Text Characters, and then choose Reverse Unicode.

Still not sure what a m3u file format is and would still love some information on that.

You need an mp3 tagger. I personally fire up fusion and use mediamonkey to tag, but for osx there's good words put out for tritag. You're looking for the copy v2 to v1 option on whichever program you use. Test out one mp3 to ensure it loads up the tags itunes has set, and use that option and save. All goes well, try another batch.

m3u is just a file that is your playlist. The mp3 tagger may/may not be able to help you on that one.

I have now found a program that can export a playlist from iTunes to my SD card and create a m3u file for that playlist.

It's the best solution I have found to create playlists on my car audio system (Audi Navigation Plus)

The program I have found is called: iTuneMyWalkman

Thanks to everyone who've helped me on this topic hasn't exactly been easy and still not sure if it's gonna work as I want it to but I'll soon discover.

Casper,

Did it work?

I'm wanting to transfer music and album art from my iTunes library to a 8gb SD card.

The card then slots into a Parrot MKi9200 which can play the music and display the album art.

I don't want to buy & fit the Parrot if the music and art work won't transfer to the SD card

Sorry for late reply, haven't been online for a while.

Yes it worked just as I wanted it to, I'm really pleased with the result. Just had a look at the Parrot online - looks nice mate, just remember that the program I used create .m3u playlists and iTunes create .txt playlists - didn't see which format the Parrot uses.

If you haven't already found the answer you're looking for I hope this can help you.

i just got an audi with the sd card slot and whenever i put the card in, it says the data is corrupted. how do you put the .mp3 files on the sd card? i have it under
Untitled (card name)--> MUSIC (folder name)--> then the different files

should i change it so that its
