Where to Place Midi Driver for Casio LK-55 on iMac

I downloaded a "simple Mac OS X driver for a USB MIDI interface found on Casio keyboards". Intstructions said "To install the driver, simply copy the CasioUSBMIDIDriver.plugin file into the Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers folder in your home folder or your system's harddrive".
I don't see that folder. Where should I place this plug-in file so that Garage Band recognizes it?

Thanks
Rick

There is a difference between home folder/Library and Macintosh HD/Library?

things installed at the root level are accessible to all users. things installed in your home directory are only available to your account.

the root level is probably the better choice, but if you want it in your home directory, just create the required folder path (BTW, I do have Driver folders in both locations)

I placed the new Casio plugin in the MacHD/Library/Audio/MidiDrivers folder and restarted. I also created a midi drivers folder in my home folder/library/Audio. I did find EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin in the MacHD midi driver folder as well.

Am I missing a step? How do enable the plug in? I looked in GB SysPrefs audio input - it only shows built in line or mic or system setting. 0 midi input detected

Maybe I should try downloading a Yamaha Dx7 midi driver... anyone know of a reliable site to get this one?

you don't enable it, it's not a plug-in, its a driver. it either works or it doesn't

MIDI ≠ Audio, so unless you plug an audio interface of some kind in to your Mac, that is all you will see.

0 midi input detected

if your keyboard is plugged in and turned on, and it still says 0 devices, then that is the wrong driver, i'm afraid.

as poflynn points out, sadly, Casio is not known or being very Mac friendly, but you might try their tech support, it's worth at least asking if they have a driver for your mac model and OS version.

+Can't believe I typed "their" instead of "there."+

I missed it, but then again I have never been a good proof reader!

So I am going to find a DX7 and an Alesis (module) driver. All I need to do is
place the driver (.plug in) in the lib/audio/midi driver folder and go to GB and see if it detected it? I don't have to go to Apps/Util/AudioMidi to set up anything?

Thanks again for all your help!

Rick
