Download split

Question

Download split

Hi all, is there any app that can split download app from the net by means if the app i'm trying to download is too big for 1 day capacity and i have a max download off 500 mb per day, lts say an app is 600 mb and i need to downloaded from the net but my provider allowed me only 500 mb ? Thanks.

you can simply pause the download in safari and resume it the next day.

BTW, 500MB per day limit sounds pretty draconian. is that a satellite provider?

Yes, thats true, and i'm allowed to download 500 mb per day which i'm fine, but this time i need to download a bigger file size, and i tried to do that in safari but when ever i do that it starts downloading from the start, so i need something to help me download that file in 2 separate days. Thanks for your response.

Why not start the download at 11pm, so that at midnight when the stats are reset, it simply continues?

Hi AFendi;

Another method is to take a CD to the Apple Store and ask them really nice if they would download what you need. I used that method before highspeed connectivity came to my neighborhood.

I don't understand that. when i pause a download in safari i can resume it any time later. I don't understand why that wouldn't work for you. there are also a number of download managers

out there and all of them can pause downloads and resume them later.

Ok are you talking about a pause tab or button or something?! can you please tell me where i can find it? because when ever i download something it shows in the download window, i can stop downloading but when i hit resume button, it starts from the beginning. Thanks for your help

Sorry, I see you mentioned Safari further above. Is the file coming from an FTP server, or HTTP? I know Safari used to always restart from the beginning for FTP files after pausing.

I was talking about the download window. I don't know why it starts from the beginning for you. it normally shouldn't. try one of the download managers. I gave you a link for that.
