USB and Roland DR0-880 Drum Machine

I've installed the Roland DR-880 USB Driver for OS X and performed the test in MIDI setup in the Utilities folder. All tested fine.
I can NOT see the DR-880 in my 'Output' or 'Input" settings box.
I did rename to DR-880 so I could see it.
DR-880 is attached, via USB, to the back of the Mac MINI.
I haven't purchased an audio interface like Motu yet.
Why can't I get the 'Track' to recognize the USB routing for the Dr-880.
Thanks
Gary

I'm having the same problem. I also have an Oxygen 49 MIDI keyboard, it works fine without having to tinker with anything. The Dr-880 just isn't seen by the Macbook. I've installed the driver(s) from the CD as well and it does nothing when plugged in. I've set the 880 "SyncMode" to MIDI and the "USB Mode" to MIDI and still nothing. I can't find ANY documentation on troubleshooting this problem either. Help!

Hi Raas:
I just got this response, but have no time to try it now. Maybe later today. Here it is.

Hey Gary,

the USB Ports are not automatically equal to MIDI Ports. Each equipment uses a driver to convert the USB to MIDI. If you hook up a new device you would like to use along the other one (I have for example a 88key Yamaha Keyboard and simultaneously a Korg nanoKey via USB and want to use the both the same time) you can leave the settings with the same port eg. port 1. If you want a drum controller sending MIDI hooked up you should set it to port 2. If you are performing alone and would not require to play the keyboard into one track and the drums into another track at the same time, you could leave the ports both to 1.
You find a service program called Audio-Midi-Setup in the programs folder to define the ports of the MIDI devices.
Maybe that helps a bit - greetz
