I forgot my Ipod Touch password

So, I've just recently bought an iTouch and decided to set a main password code for it. Well, I changed the password because all my friends kept getting into it, but I forgot my new password (stupid).
I've read other discussions, and I've tried everything that was recommended, and none of it has worked. It's disabled for another 32 minutes yet.
Oh, and everytime I attempt to log into iTunes, a box comes up and says: "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started."
I'd REALLY appreciate any help.

The time to download the iPod Touch software update determines your current internet speed and how busy the servers are for where the file is located.

Average time on most DSL and Cable connections is 5 to 10 min of download time. May vary depending on your internet speed package with your ISP, or how busy data traffic is on your home network or the area. And even the server of where you are downloading the file from.

You may want to ensure no one in the house is downloading any big files or pauses their downloads it may increase your download speed.
