Hi Tony,

I'm not entirely sure. If you look in your system profiler it will tell you if your model will burn\read Dual Layer DVD's. Click on the Apple (top left corner of the screen) - About This Mac - More info.

Under 'Hardware' click on 'Disk Burning' and in the window to the right you will see all options available to you. Look for 'DL' (dual layer).

I know my G4 won't burn DL dvd's, though you can upgrade your superdrive to one that does. I almost got one from macupgrades.co.uk but have decided to wait.

Good luck,

Hi, Tony.

I've just discovered the same problem you described. I have a Superdrive in my Powerbook, and have burned many Dual Layer DVDs. I haven't burned one in a while, but when I went to do so a couple of days ago, my drive wouldn't recognize the DLs. I'm using the same Memorex DLs I've used in the past.

Anyone out there - is it possible this could be the result of an OS update? Tony, where did you read about this? I don't want to look into replacing the drive if this is an OS issue.

Thanks!
