Shaking icons

I had a weird thing happen today. At work i had it on at the main screen and i slipped it into my pocket without turning it off or anything. When i got it out, the icons were shaking like they were floating in water. Some of them had x's in the upper left corner of the screen.

I turned it off and on again, and that seemed to help, but the mail and safari icons switched places.

My questions are

1) What caused the original shaking, and

2) How can i switch the position of the mail and safari icons?

This feature is to allow you to change the icons position. If you press and hold any icon they will shake around as you describe. Simply drag the icon you want to where you want it to be. If you press the home button when finished they will stop "jiggling". You must have pressed one by mistake while it was in your pocket.

The shaking occurs in the process of moving icons. Touch and hold any icon and all icons will start shaking. While they are shaking, any icon can be moved on the same page or off the edge to another page. When finished, press the home key to stop the shaking and set the changes. I'm not sure what the "x" means. Maybe someone else will answer that. Apparently, when you reached for the phone, you held pressure on an icon to start this process and moved either the mail or safari icon. To fix the problem, just repeat the process to move the icons back.

1 Touch and hold any Home screen icon until the icons begin to wiggle.

"I looked through this doc last night and couldn't find anything about moving icons. Could you please point it out? Thank you."
