MP4 (movies) not working in iTunes

Hey. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Windows Vista laptop. After converting some .avi's to .mp4 I tried to drag + drop them into the iTunes movie section, but I get the red circle instead of the plus sign, and when I drop them they don't appear. File > Import a file doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

Acer Aspire 9300, Windows Vista, It's rubbish.

I have had a similar problem with MP4 files that are larger than 2.1 GB in size. How big are your files?

Also, if anyone else is reading this thread.... When I add MP4s to iTunes and play them back either on the computer, on my iPod or through my iPod onto my TV, the video playback skips. It is as if frames drop out. At first, I thought it was a video conversion issue, but I played the same files on the laptop I used to convert them and they played just fine. It happens when I transfer the file (via external HDD) to my iTunes computer.
