Album Art for WAV vs. AIFF

I can't seem to add album artwork to any of my .wav files, but can add artwork to my .aiff version of the same song. How come? Is there a way to change this?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Wav format doesn't support the embedding of artwork.

Is that true?
I have the same problem.
But I get most off the covers via iTunes.
So there is a way to save these covers.
Just can't manually add the ones that are missing.

Is there a workaround?

As WAV files are full quality (like AIFF), then convert them to something like Apple Lossless and then add the artwork - you won't lose any quality doing this.
