Using "ball" G4 Speakers with another computer/jack

Hey all, have those ball speakers that came with g4's

User uploaded file

(i think at least with similar imacs) - and don't use my G4 any more, is there a way to buy an adapter for those to plug into a regular headphone jack?

Would it be possible, since maybe they would require a different type of output than a headphone jack signal?

Wicked, thanks

With over 200 views, "don't care" may not be the problem. People may simply not know an answer.

I know I don't, and I'm in the same boat. I had the ball speakers on my MDD when at work but, when I bought the computer for home use, I connected it to a better sound system here. If I plug in the ball speakers to their dedicated jack, they mute the better system running off the regular headphone jack. Therefore they are back in the box.

You can use them if you can find a Griffin Tech product (that they no longer produce) called the PowerWave. It's a USB audio output and input device, with the added capability of being an amp for standard unpowered +living room+ stereo speakers. It had a special port on it, which is the same port that was on those few Mac that could power the +crystal ball speakers+. You could just plug them into the PowerWave, and speakers would receive both audio (over USB) and power.

Amazon still has a listing for it.

I have one. It does a few more neat tricks, such as being able to take audio input from two computers at the same time and play them both (at the same time) through the attached speakers.
