Question

Playing a DVD double time

Does anyone know of a program that I can use to play a DVD in double time?

Ok thank you, I think I might have to look for something else because when you scan forward, the sound doesn't play as well, I am looking for something that just plays back a little faster than normal, so the lectures I have to watch take up a shorter time.

That button seems to only skip to the next title if you click it, or fast forward, if you hold it down. I would like to listen to the DVD play faster than usual speed.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

The controller on the Apple DVD Player offers a fast forward icon with a >> which lets you double the speed of the playback.

Is this not working in some way that you are expecting it to?

Command-shift-right arrow lets you scan forward.
Or from the Controls menu select scan forward. Selecting the scan rate from the scan frate submenu of the Controls menu lets you select the speed it goes forward. If this is not sufficient, then you might want to see if a different DVD Player can do what you need.

That works, but it shifts the pitch rather than simply resampling it and keeping the pitch constant but speeding up the voice, ala the tag lines/fine print on many radio commercials.
I suggest trying one of these pieces of software in addition to VLC, to remove the "Chipmunk" effect.
