MathML for WebKit (Safari's rendering engine) is if development is already on it's way currently probably in early phases. There is no status on the project other than that it will be implemented in the future. For now MathML is a no go on the iPhone.

As MysteryQuest mentions, there is no date/deadline set for when MathML will be supported. This is the current status of the feature request in WebKit:

There are numerous hits in this Safari Search (MathML-Safari).
But perhaps you could narrow it down, by "searching within the results".
