Can't Update to Final Cut Pro 6.0.5

Hi,

Just started editing a new project and the director has the latest version of FCP (6.0.5) so now I finally need to update my version (6.0.2) so we can work back and forth seamlessly. When I go to the software updates page for Final Cut Studio 2 though, all that's available is the Pro Applications Update 2008-05... apparently I need the 2008-04 update, which isn't available on the page.

Could someone please let me know whether I still can get the 2008-04 update, which includes the update to version 6.0.5, and if so, where to find it. When I go to "Software Update" on my Mac it does not tell me that an update for FCP is available. All of my other apps for the suite (Colour, Soundtrack, Motion etc.) are in their latest version, it's just FCP that's behind.

The Pro Applications Update 2008-005 does contain the FCP 6.0.5 update.

I am actually having the exact same problem. I just downloaded the Pro Applications Update 2008-05 and my Final Cut is still version 6.0.1.

To do this most efficiently, use the Apple Menu/Software Update and just keep running it for new items,

My OS is up date and I am upgrading QuickTime now. I found this page to download the 2008-04 update, but whenever I put in my serial number it only gives the option of the 2008-05 update. Here's the site. http://support.apple.com/downloads/ProApps_Updates_2008004

That's because Apple doesn't officially support older versions of their Video Pro apps. Once a new update is released, all previous links point to the newest update.

But that update only includes the Color 1.0.4 update. Is there now no way to update Final Cut until 6.0.6 comes out?

Click on the link that I posted above. It's a screenshot of the contents of the Pro Applications 2008-005 update. The FCP 6.0.5 is included with that update.

Use David S.'s suggestion, and use Software Update to check for any other updates that may be required. If you install updates out of order, then you may run into a version issue, such as you are experiencing. After you've updated the rest of your system, rerun the 2008-005 installer and see if that updates your version of FCP.

Hey I upgraded Quicktime and everything else, and then i reinstalled the 2008-005 update and my final cut is still at 6.0.1. Then i went into the package contents of the 2008-005 update file and tried to manually update final cut and it wouldn't let me select my hard drive to install the update. It said "You cannot install Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 Update on this volume. This is not a supported installation method." Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. I reinstalled fcp recently and used the update software utility to check for updates, installed the pro apps update 2008-005 and my fcp is still stuck on 6.0.1

did you get a solution for this Steve?

I got the same message preventing me from selecting my hard drive when I tried to manually install the FCP upgrade. But when I ran Software Update again and had it install the Pro Apps upgrade (rather than selecting "Download Only"), it upgraded fine from 6.0.1 to 6.0.5.
