This works for me when I want to get a song under a playlist.
Managed to download and listen to my first podcast on my ipod mini - but when I copied it over, it appears in with the rest of my songs, not in the 'podcast' menu on my ipod. What am I doing wrong? I can't work out how to access that menu to copy it over there either, all I see in iTunes is my library and playlists.

Click on the podcast you want to send over, drag it to the menu and drop it there.

You probably just need to go to the preferences and set which of your subscribed podcasts you want it to sync to your mini. Have you tried that?
Go into iTunes, and subscribe to the podcast you want (if its not there you may want to try a great application for podcasts called 'ipodder x' I think, there are others too) then you set the preferences of the itunes app to automatically update the podcasts to your ipod when you dock it. that it.
Read the * manual. If you are subscribing directly from the websites it gets a little trickier.

Rachel,
I have the same issue. Subscribing to the podcase isn't the issue, rather that the podcast itself once moved to the iPod mini doesn't show up in the grouping 'Music-->Podcast'. As a result I have to scroll by artist or 'song' and pick out the podcasts. Any others out there understand the issue?

Are you dragging it to your mini or are you having it sync to your mini?
Casey,
I got it. But only after reading your post, as well as re-reading the one from Robert. You were correct, I was dragging individual podcasts over to my ipod vs. having them automatically move. Once I did that, they appeared in music->podcasts.
The next question: how come all of my subscribed podcasts are not showing up in that list to auto populate?

If you look around in the prefs there are some options:
Option<ipod<podcasts< then select automatically update podcasts selected, then select the ones youve subscribed to. Again if you are going to the individual sites to subscribe you may want to use an app like ipodder x. Bo Eddy
