I am running the new version 7.6 of QuickTime for Windows, and I get the error message "Unsupported Media Type" when I try to watch the 2009 Macworld Keynote of Mr. Schiller, both for the normal and the HD version.
"If a movie is not saved with a "hinted" track for streaming, it will not stream in the browser. An error of "unsupported media type" or "disconnected" may appear in the QT player plugin within the browser. The movie must be deleted from the server and a hinted track added to the movie. This can be done using QuickTime Player Pro. Export it from QuickTime Player Pro as "Movie to Hinted Movie", then re-upload it to the server."
If this is true and it looks like they know what they are talking about, then Apple is being very slack in not fixing it. Are you listening Apple. Fix the broken Macworld 2009 movie please!
I'm getting the same error, with a MacBook Pro and QuickTime player Version 7.6 (472) QuickTime™ Version 7.6.0 (1290). I could not get the keynote to play on one Mac, so I tried another. It worked on the second machine, but then when I paused it and returned, I had the same frustrating error message.
