Are you seeing an error message or are the emails just not there?
If you can add the account without any issues, Entourage is probably removing the emails from the server. Look for an option in Entourage that will leave a copy of the message on the server as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228
You can avoid this issue and other POP account limitations by setting up a Yahoo!, Gmail, or MobileMe account.
