Controlling iTunes from within a fullscreen game

Hey. I like to listen to music while I game. I want to be able to skip tracks and control the itunes volume while playing Urban Terror (a quake 3 mod).

I decided to use sizzlingkeys as it has global hotkeys. However, the only keys that will actually work are f7, f8 and f9. None of the other f-keys work, and none of the other keyboard keys seems to work (I haven't gone through them all).

Someone suggested enabling the system preferences box "allow function keys to be used as normal function keys". Now when I check this, I can assign all the function keys to sizzling keys hotkeys no problem outside the game (I have to press fn to allow system volume changes, and brightness etc). But once in the game, it reverts back and I have to use the fn button and only my f7, f8 and f9 keys work again.

How do I determine what keys will trigger sizzlingkeys in game? Is there another solution? Cheers!

Games often hardwire their keyboard functions into the code which means you can't change them, and they override your own settings.

The best option I can suggest is playing Urban Terror from a new user account on your Mac, in which you remove all Dashboard widgets and add the iTunes widget. A quick click of your mouse scroll wheel while playing Urban Terror will bring up Dashboard (you may have to set this in advance) and while that is not quite "ingame" it is as near as you will get... unless someone else has a better idea.

(I am assuming that you don't want to use Command-tab to switch to iTunes itself while you are playing?)
