How to speed up printing colored pages on my b&w LaserWriter 8500?
My LaserWriter 8500 prints PDF pages containing text highlighted in gray-scale at normal speed (a few seconds/page). If I change the highlights to web-safe colors, each page takes more than 5 minutes. (The same pattern also happens for background colors for text notes.)
But web-safe colors don't slow printing other annotation effects (lines, freehand, boxes, circles).
Also, web-safe color highlighting prints quickly on my (b&w) HL-2040 printer.
Is there anything I can do (drivers? Postcript mods?) to speed up the printing on the LaserWriter 8500 other than revert to gray-scale?
Is this an issue with Apple frameworks?
(I use Skim to annotate PDFs as, from what I can tell, highlight color is not adjustable with either Acrobat or Preview, and I want to also optimize color for on-screen presentation.)
