How long can my ringtone be?
Ringtones can be up to 30 seconds.



The amount of time your phone rings before voicemail is dependent on the side of the cellular provider. You will need to contact them to change the amount of seconds it takes before voicemail picks up.

I think the longest is 30 seconds and then call goes to voicemail. This is different from ringtone length as ringtone length does not control amount of rings from cellular provider before requesting voicemail box.

Depending on your cellular reception (signal strength) at the time, the time interval before a call goes to voicemail (which is at AT&T's servers) can start or usually starts before your iPhone starts ringing, and the same with any cell phone. I have a business phone with Verizon and I experience this with my Verizon phone on occasion - my phone rings maybe twice before going to voicemail - especially when my signal strength is low at the time, and sometimes regardless what my signal strength is. The person calling heard more than two rings, so the clock begins at the server, not with the phone, which may not pick up a call being received until sometime after the clock at the server begins before a call goes to voicemail at the server.

I also have my ringtone set to 30 seconds, and it seems to work fine. So, I believe the iPhone can support a 30 second ringtone.

If you have contacted your Service Provider and had them change your settings, then maybe the problem could be with the actual ringtone in iTunes with your preferences not being saved correctly. All I can advise is for you to double check this.

Also, have you tested the length of your call with a default iPhone ringtone? If it still cuts out at 20 seconds, maybe give your SP a call back.

It does support 30 sec ringtones. I use garage band on my mac and that gives me 40 secs.

You are confusing ATT when you talk to them about ringtones. (They are easily confused).

Talk to them about voice mail delay. They can set that on their end.
