Samsung SCX 4300 multifunction printer scanner issues

I recently purchased a Samsung SCX 4300 multifunction printer and hooked it up to my G4 tower 800mhz...printer and scanner worked fine (scanning through photoshop) 10.4.11. I just upgraded to a imac 24" 10.5.6.. the printer still works fine but I have lost the ability to scan through neither photoshop or image capture now. Phoned samsung and apple and no one has drivers for 10.5.6. What I would like to know if there is a solution to getting the scanner to work with the new os..if not it looks like samsung is not the printer to get..advertised as compatible with 10.5. So if there is a solution that would be great...if not anyone have suggestions on a 10.5 freindly multifunction laser printer?

We've also had great luck with HP's and Canon's, just do a little surfing at there Support Sites first be for settling on a model.

Hi,

Thanks for the above link.

My issue is that I can't get anything to physically print. My Macbook can find the printer, it seems to send data to it ok, even the printer itself says that its receiving data and sounds like its warming up to start printing - but then it just stops and lists the job as completed, even though nothing has actually been printed. I also can't see where the ScanThru scanning software.

I can print/scan fine from my old PC laptop - how do I get this to work on my Mac?

Thanks (from an inexperienced Mac user)

Hi there,

I've been trying to hook up a Samsung SCX 4300 to my MacBook Pro and my parents' new iMac, but with no success. It's not communicating properly and therefore won't print. I've downloaded the print/ scanner drivers that are recommended earlier in the thread however they seen to have had no effect. Any help would be brilliant.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Hi, I'm having a similar problem. I hooked up the Samsung SCX-4300 to my imac operating on OS X 10.6 yesterday and while I can print no problem, the scanner software will not download (despite going through the installation process, which says everything was fine). I have tried downloading the latest driver software from Samsung (which claims it is for the latest operating system), but still no joy. Can anybody help?

Thanks

Adrian

Hi!

I've found a solution: in *System Preferences >> Print&Fax* choose your *Samsung SCX-4300* printer and click on Options&Supplies. At the upcoming window switch on Driver tab and set *SCX-4300 Series* driver instead of +Generic PostScript printer 1,3+. The icon of your Samsung printer changes to a default printer icon but for me everything works fine for now.
I hope it will work for you guys, too.

Good luck

Yoshi
