keyboard shortcut to edit cell content?

In Numbers, is there a way to edit a cell's content without having to use the mouse? By edit, I mean to enter edit mode without entirely replacing the cell's content (such as to append to existing text).

The only solution I can find is to de-select the "Return key moves to next cell" option for the table. That lets me use the Return key to edit a cell, but I would much prefer a way to do this without losing normal operation of the Return key while editing.

In Excel, I believe the F2 key does the trick.

The Numbers '09, the "Keyboard Shortcuts" help page says that to "Edit content in cell" you "Select cell and click once, twice, or three times." Not exactly a keyboard shortcut...

I found it. In case this helps anyone else -- option+Return edits a cell's content.

That is a hint to apple, that when iWork has a section in help called keyboard shortcuts, clicks do not count. The proper keyboard shortcuts should be introduced in the shortcuts list.

Thank you for your detective work! I was getting annoyed at clicking all key combinations and all f keys.
