Question

screen sharing clipboard transfers working for anyone?

greetings,

i use screen sharing on a number of macs, which i find enormously helpful... 2 MBPros w/ 10.5.6, 1 G5 w/ 10.5.5, 1 Powerbook w/ 10.4.11...

i've never gotten the clipboard transfers to work on any of these macs with any combination... does it work for anyone else? is there some kind of option to enable it?

works here on 3 macs running 10.5.6 and it has always worked. nothing special required to activate it. just choose "send clipboard" from the Edit menu in Screen Sharing.

Hi V.K.,

I've tried that... but no go. I'm networked from my iMac to my PBookG4. Do they both have to be running the same Mac OS? I have no problem using Screen Sharing.

I got it! LOL I needed to have Apple Remote Desktop checked in the Sharing folder on the Mac running Tiger in order for it to work.

i guess it must be some kind of bug, but it seems very strange that it affects all my computers... not sure what to do about it...

I was having trouble with this until I had an "Ahh!" moment... I expected that when you select 'Send Clipboard' or 'Get Clipboard' that Screen Sharing would paste the other computer's clipboard contents. It never seemed to 'appear' where my cursor was. Once I realized that I needed to actually 'paste' the clipboard after the transfer, it works like a charm (although it still feels like an extra step to me).

Just a thought.

No ah-ha moment here. It's a bug. I'm transferring from Leopard to Tiger - maybe that's the problem? Dunno. But it doesn't work. You can do Send Clipboard and there is still no PASTE option at all - no clipboard transferred. Very frustrating when you have Very long URL you are trying to transfer from on Safari to another.
