QTSS problems outside LAN...

Hi

I have some problems when I try to connect to some clips on our QTSS. When I am on the same LAN as the server (at work) everythings works just fine, but when I´m outside of the LAN there is no connection and no errormessage at all.

What am I doing wrong? Im sure you´ll understand that I am a compleate newbie on this field 🙂

Is it possible to connect this way?

- Open quicktime
- Choose file an get URL...
- paste my URL rtsp://my ip_for_the_server/mymovie.mov

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Did you forward your ports?

554 udp,tcp = RTSP (TCP and UDP)
1220 TCP = QTSS admin (optional for web admin)
6970-6999 udp = QTSS RTP
7070 udp Tcp = QTSS (TCP and UDP)
8000-8001 TCP = QTSS MP3

I see you are connecting using an IP address, I assume this is an external IP thats being forwarded to your internal IP? If you have web admin enabled can you access it from outside? http://myip_for_theserver:1220

has this been since upgrading to quicktime 7.6?

I am having the same problem, QTSS will stream files internally and has worked to external connections in the past, but since we upgraded our server to the latest quicktime this problem has arisen. videos that we encoded prior to the quicktime upgrade will still stream without a problem, but nothing recent with 7.6 will work. I'm not sure how many people are having this problem, but it will need to be addressed by apple...it has been really frustrating for us
