I don't know how this happened, but my Trash sound effects disappeared. All of my audio settings are turned on and other sound effects in the computer are working. I even tested the Dock by placing a blank folder into it and removing to hear the "poof" sound with the white cloud that appears. I cleared the PRAM and ran Disk Warrior. The problem remains.
For example, when dropping a file into the trash, there used to be a little sound. and then when emptying the trash, I would hear the crumpled paper sound. But both sounds are gone.
Does anyone have a solution?
MacBook Pro 15" screen, 2.5GHz,
Mac OS X (10.5.6),
4GB RAM, 200GB 7200 RPM HD, Glossy Screen
I found the problem. I used TinkerTool.app earlier in the day and accidentally clicked on "Disable Sound Effects". I unchecked it, relaunched the finder and the Trash sound effects have returned.
Wow.. THANK YOU! I have no idea how this finder preference became disabled (it WAS enabled in the preferences --> sounds section), but I downloaded and installed TinkerTools and re-enabled it. My trash and other Finder sounds are now back.
Same problem here. I'm curious why it is happening. I've never downloaded TinkerTool before. So, it seems like I should theoretically be able to fix the problem without having to use it now.
But I guess I'll just use TinkerTool anyway since it is available.
Anyone know why the Trash sounds would all of a sudden become disabled?
