Wireless Mighty Mouse cursor not moving can anyone help?

hello

-received WMM today
-inserted batteries
-i installed it by using the Bluetooth pane of System Preferences

WMM works only partially i.e. it can scroll and click however the cursor doesn't move.. not at all! no matter ho much i move the mouse there is no reaction.

for a start i have a question:
when i inserted the batteries (battery level in system preferences is fully green), the green light did go on. however, no other light turned on. in the original Mighty Mouse the red light for optical tracking is turned on.. should one turn on in the Wireless as well? even if it is laser guided?

if the light not turning on isn't the problem can anyone else suggest another possible solution?

thank you

Mine has a flashing green light on the bottom when it powers up and connects. I ended up fixing mine last night. I reset the bluetooth. Do a search on these boards for how to reset the bluetooth.

You have to power off, take out the battery and hold down the power key for 5 seconds. Then on restart you hold down a combo of keys and it will reset.

Mine worked perfectly after I did this.

hi and thanks for the help..
i'm trying to find the exact instructions on how to reset bluetooth i even downloaded a widget called reset bluetooth but it doesn't work.

i have also found another thread where many were having the same exact issue the problem they seem to say is in the batteries for anyone interested here's the link

i'm still stuck with no solution.

in the link i provided above it seemed that for most of the people changing batteries from rechargeable to normal or vice versa fixed the problem. i have tried the above and 3 different battery brands still stuck cursor doesn't move but i can click

any other suggestions?

please?

this might help you (it didn't with me but you might be luckier)

what i find strange is that in all those posts everyone is mentioning a flashing red light at the bottom of the mouse.. something which we do not have and which i now know we aren't supposed to have since in the manual it clearly says:

"the laser used by the mighty mouse is not visible but a small green indicator light on the bottom of the mouse blinks when the mouse is on and the batteries are changed"

so what is all the big deal about the red light? must be an older version of the Mighty Mouse i guess...

Strange problem, even stranger soloution.
I too am afflicted with the non moving-cursor, yet scrolling and clicking does work (on any surface).

I never had a problem before this morning using my couch as my mouse pad, but in a matter of minutes, the mouse would no longer track on any surface at all.
I set the mouse down on a stainless steel table I have and it DID work temporarily but went back to being non-responsive.

Now, the only way I can get my wireless mighty mouse to work was by covering a hardcover book with a sheet of ALUMINUM FOIL and using IT as a mousepad!
PLEASE APPLE- FIND OUT WHAT'S CAUSING THIS ISSUE AND GIVE US SOME INFO!

I can only add my voice to this. I, too have a WMM that worked fine - actually it worked great until tonight. All I did was to start up my MobileMe account(s), then tried a game of GL golf and boom! No tracking on my mouse (or actually a tiny, tiny amount). I, too have scrolling and clicking working. I'm about to try resetting the Bluetooth. Is this the revenge of IBM?? Anyway, I'll be checking back in here once in a while to see if this issue has been fixed. Sure is beginning to sound like a bug...
