Fonts on PC look different from iWeb 08 vs. iWeb 09?

Has anybody noticed that the same fonts, same site, republished in iWeb 09 is yielding the fonts to look different on IE 6 and Firefox 3 for the PC? When converting over from iWeb 08 to 09 everything seems flawless, and on Safari and Firefox for the Mac the fonts are clean and crisp . I then check the site on the PC side, and my god the fonts look horrible, and they didnt look like this yesterday when I loaded them from the iWeb 08 published version.

If you can, take a look on Safari for Mac and then load the same site on the PC. the fonts are our company's standard fonts and have never looked like they do on the PC side. Any help would be great.

To add to this.

The WELCOME! on the main page. If I do not place a shadow behind it, the PC browsers change the font to a default font and it looks nothing like it looks now on the PC.

Check this out. On IE6 or Firefox 3 for PC load this page:

http://web.me.com/borgioli74/Pelco/PelcoPresentsPodcasting.html

Then load this page:

http://training.pelco.com/podcasts/PelcoPresentsPodcasting.html

The font for WELCOME is exactly the same except the mobileme page has no shadow behind the font, whereas the live page has a shadow... can anyone explain this?

James,

Thank you. Any idea why yesterday the site was fine running iWeb 08, and today's site is so much different? If our corporate regulated fonts worked fine in iWeb 08 yesterday, why wouldn't they look exactly the same in 09 today. That is my problem right now.

Thank you for the feedback, but there is something wrong with the 09 build I think.

Here is a publish from January 19:

http://training.pelco.com/podcasts/TEST/PelcoPresentsPodcasting.html

Here is today:

http://training.pelco.com/podcasts/PelcoPresentsPodcasting.html

Note how different the fonts are on even the main page. The whole site under iWeb 08 is listed under that TEST folder. The links will revert to the main site, just add the TEST folder in there, or browse through the test folder 🙂

Thanks!

not only page loading times, but search engines don't catalog text that is an image file. Due to other problems with web color output, I've already reverted to iWeb08. iWeb09 is appearing much too buggy to upgrade. Although I suppose these bugs could be "improvements" in Apple's eyes. I'll be waiting until iWeb 3.0.2 or 3.0.3...time will tell.

And what's more fonts on iWeb on your computer look different from the same fonts in Safari and Firefox after publishing. The fonts are thicker, and for Japanese that renders them unreadable. There are not much choices for Japanese. So Apple should improve the font issue. Most Japanese font choices on Macs are simply unreadable.
I have made images of a few texts and these look better. Have a look at entry as text (best available font):
http://web.me.com/heli1/OneHundred_Poems/1Tenji.html
And here is a page with text as images, as it should look:
http://web.me.com/heli1/OneHundred_Poems/3Hitomaro.html
The pages now look considerable lighter than before. The colours are different from the previous iWeb.

It is the font that is best readable, one of the few available Japanese fonts. There is not much choice of Japanese fonts. And at least what I see on my computer in iWeb should be the same as what I get on a browser on my computer with the same fonts.
It seems that when you choose Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro W3, iWeb uploads the same font but in W6 (thicker).
