I'm having a problem. When I try to upload photos to Facebook I get the "Set Up" window. I log in to my account and once it is on it tells me to close the window and go back to the application, but then it will ask me again to "Set Up" the account. It will continue doing this forever. Any thoughts?
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
I was having the same problems. I think it is a problem with the way Facebook blocks applications.
I solved the problem by clicking on the iPhoto Uploader hyperlink in the uploader box, telling Facebook to Block the iPhoto Uploader application. I then went back to iPhoto and attempted to upload a photo. After the login screen all I got was a screen that said close. I did this, then went back to the iPhoto Uploader option in Facebook and told it to Allow the application. Then when I selected pictures in iPhoto and clicked on the Facebook button, I logged in as before and was presented with the option to publish the picture.
Now everything works .... my guess is that facebook was rejecting the request from iPhoto to publish, but fails to show an error message. The solution is to disallow then allow the iPhoto Application from Facebook (using the hyperlink in the iPhoto Uploader login box.)
chloe2 wrote: "After the login screen all I got was a screen that said close." When I follow her tip, at this point, instead of a screen that says "close," I get a screen that asks me if I want to Allow iPhoto Uploader or Cancel. Not matter which of these two options I choose, I am cycled back into the infinite loop of logins. It's maddening.
You need to 'block' the application in Facebook, this will prevent the 'Allow' / cancel page from appearing. Then you need to unblock the application in Facebook.
chloe2: Thanks so much for this tip and all your replies, which seems like the right line of attack. Unfortunately, I have blocked the application in Facebook, and when I go back to Setup in iPhoto, it does in fact still send me to the Allow/Cancel screen. Either of these options sends to back through the infinite loop. Argh.
I'm also having the exact same problem. I get the infinite loop of set up or cancel. Have tried trashing my plist and blocking the facebook application. I get the same problem with both Flickr and Facebook.
One other idea (something I did try ....) go to your facebook account, then go to setting, then application settings. Choose show 'Authorized'. Hit the 'X' next to the iPhoto Uploader to remove it from the list of authorized applications, then go to iPhoto and try to upload a photo. This should prevent you form getting the 'allow' prompt. Then go to the iPhone Uploader link page using the link I mentioned above and select 'allow' application to access data.
chloe2, you are so patient. I did just as you suggested - removed iPhoto Uploader from my list of authorized applications in under Application Settings in Facebook. I went back to iPhoto, attempted to upload a photo, which sent me to the login sheet. After entering my credentials, I was sent to - you guessed it - the "Allow" prompt. After hitting allow, and then close, I was cycled back to the beginning. No progress.
What happens when you hit 'cancel' instead of 'Allow'? I would get my facebook page inserted into the prompt window ....
Once I got things working, I have had no problems .... I did try some of the other suggestions prior (like removing the plist file, etc.) Maybe it was a combination of these things ....
