Dell 3008wfp monitor on iMac

Hi everyone, I'm a PC user looking to get a Mac. In fall 2008 I've purchased a DELL 3008WFP monitor for my PC. As I'm shopping to find the best Mac for my needs I would like to know if I can use this monitor to it maximum resolution on any Mac or do I need to look for a specific model.

That Dell monitor is fairly expensive and I'm not ready to get rid of it. It has Displayport, 2 DCI, VGA and few other inputs on it.

Basically I'm looking for a Mac where I can use this monitor at max resolution.

What Mac model should I consider? Do I need to look for any special configuration?

Hi,

That's a 30" 2600x1600 right? I have the same monitor hooked up to a PC with a geforce 8800.

I tried it with a 256mb ATI gpu and the resolution was all big and squarish, not optimal at all...

So, I think you need a very decent graphics card... I highly doubt the mac mini's (someone correct me if i am wrong...) will look good through it due to their relatively low end gpu.

On the other hand, a mac pro with a geforce 8800 or quadro will have no problem using the monitors full capability 🙂
